Arsene Wenger
Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, could get an FA charge for
confronting referee Neil Swarbrick, after they lost 2-1 at Watford on
Saturday.According to Standard Sport, Wenger chased Swarbrick down the
tunnel at Vicarage Road, before entering the referees’ room with raised
voices heard from outside during a heated exchange.
Speaking at his post-match press conference later, the Gunners boss
labelled the decision to award Watford a penalty in the second half as
“scandalous”.
Swarbrick pointed to the spot, after Hector Bellerin’s challenge on
Richarlison. The Football Association is now set to review the incident
under recently revised laws allowing retrospective punishment for
diving.
However, the FA could also examine Wenger’s behaviour depending on what Swarbrick includes in his referee’s report.
