7 dead as pedestrian bridge collapses on taxi in Kano(Photo)

Seven including a taxi driver and his passenger died Sunday evening in Kano when a pedestrian bridge under construction on Sheik Jafar road collapsed on the moving cab.The pedestrian bridge which is located at Karshen waya by Gidan mai was designed to check and curtail risk associated with pedestrian crossing at the densely populated Doroyi suburb.

Eyewitnesses disclosed the bridge caved in after the taxi driver and other pedestrians stubbornly decided to drive through despite being warned against it .
